Our next clinical HealthTrust Hero is Adrian Hernandez, RN!

Adrian's experience as a nurse and as a military veteran provided crucial relief to facilities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Learn more about our latest HealthTrust Hero by reading his nomination below:

"Adrian is an ICU and ED nurse in the San Antonio market who was deployed to the Houston area for Hurricane Harvey relief, as many nurses were. The difference was the way he approached this deployment and the impact that he had on the facilities, the patients, and HealthTrust. His ability to work competently in both the ICU and ED also made him extremely valuable for this deployment.

For his initial deployment, Adrian worked a shift in San Antonio until 7 PM, collected his gear, and started driving to Dallas en route to Houston. He arrived in Dallas at 1:00 AM to find that there was no hotel room for him to stay, but a hotel was able to find him a room to share with another nurse. He was driven by bus the next day to Conroe Regional Medical Center - located just north of Houston - to be deployed.

Adrian is a veteran and he turned to his military training to help guide him for the disaster relief effort. Although there was much confusion at the distribution site with assignments continuously changing, Adrian's attitude was 'adapt and overcome.' He was there to help and understood that this situation would require great flexibility and patience.

Once the hospital became more stable, Adrian made himself available for other facilities in need. He was soon contacted by a friend who was also deployed in Houston whose hospital was in desperate need of nurses with Adrian's skill set. He was redeployed and offered relief in both the ICU and ED for this second hospital.

Adrian's clinical expertise, loyalty to HWS and to his patients, willingness to make the sacrifice and help, and his desire to see that 'the right thing is done' tells the story that you can conquer the world with an army of Adrians."

We would like to congratulate Adrian Hernandez, RN, on becoming a HealthTrust Hero!
