Earlier today, an article was published on the Indeed blog discussing the global nursing shortage and what employers can do to feed the nursing pipeline.

The post outlined how  organizations like the American Association of Colleges of Nursing recommend strategies to speed the educational pipeline and the need for stronger management and training programs.

That is why Parallon’s Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) Program is helping healthcare facilities across the country get the increasing number of qualified nurses they need to deliver care to a growing patient population. StaRN provides intensive post-graduate education for recent nursing graduates, including comprehensive didactic training, a robust simulation experience and a hands-on clinical preceptorship. Upon completion of the program, graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skill to begin their career.

The StaRN program not only bridges the gap between newly licensed nurses and hard-to-fill critical care positions, but also provides curriculum for the most advanced nursing specialties.

Furthermore, Indeed believes that flexibility in location and scheduling could make nursing careers more attractive and rewarding for job seekers. Changes to the profession, like the rise of travel nursing for example, are giving nurses some of that flexibility. On Indeed, the share of postings for travel nurses has risen from 13% to 18% in the past year alone.
