In addition to week-long celebrations for nurses and hospital staff, May is also the time to celebrate Oncology Nursing Month and National Critical Care Awareness & Recognition Month!
Cancer affects an estimated 15 million people in the United States and has a major impact on society, including within the HealthTrust/HCA family. Sarah Cannon, the global cancer institute of HCA, alone treats 120,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year throughout the network.
Additionally, more than 5.7 million patients require critical care every year. Their lives are touched by more than half a million intensivists, critical care nurses, and acute care nurse practitioners working at hospitals and other medical facilities nationwide. The Society of Critical Care Medicine encourages all critical care staff to wear blue on Friday, May 19 in support of critical care awareness!
We would like to thank all of our HealthTrust and HCA oncology nurses and critical care staff for providing the highest quality of care to their patients.
