DAISY Award: Francis 'Sonny' Combs

sonny-combs-daisy

Congratulations to Francis "Sonny" Combs on earning a DAISY Award! Sonny is a nurse at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at TriStar Centennial Medical Center who truly touched the lives of a patient and his family. Sonny's DAISY Award nomination can be read in full below:

"I am writing to you about one of your employees, Francis Combs (Sonny). My son is in Centennial Hospital. From the very first time we had Sonny as his nurse, his performance never ceases to amaze me. He is the best nurse we have had. His work ethic is outstanding. He always has a smile on his face, is very polite and never hesitates to answer any questions I may have.

My son has an ostomy bag and he is unable to change it himself while lying down. Sonny never hesitated when we asked if he could do it. He has gone the extra mile calling doctors to get help and answers for my son when the occasion called for help. My son even said Sonny has made his stay in the hospital a more enjoyable experience than what we were expecting. Jared looks forward to the nights we know Sonny is working and I always try to catch the scheduling nurse to request him.

Sonny truly found his calling when he became a nurse. I am very thankful God placed this young man in our path. He has truly been a blessing to the both of us. Not only has he helped make what my son is going through less stressful, as a parent I feel better knowing my son is in good hands with a nurse we both trust so much. You truly have an awesome employee in Sonny and I just wanted to commend him on such an outstanding job performance."
