Congratulations to DAISY Award Winner & HealthTrust RN Deb Hudson

Congratulations to HealthTrust RN Deborah Hudson, winner of the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses for September, 2025! Here are some details about her award, and what Deb had to say about it.

'She Was Always There When I Need Her’

Working with our team in Conroe, Texas, Deborah has been with HealthTrust Workforce Solutions for almost three years, and a nurse for 40. And during that time, she’s honed her skills to a level of truly exceptional care.

“It's such an honor to be recognized,” Deb told us about winning the DAISY Award. “I'm very grateful to the patient and my team that sent the recognition to the award committee. It is that recognition that will remind me to strive higher for my patients and my team.”

Those patients often speak of Deb's empathy and her high level of professionalism. Those are essential skills for any nurse, but especially those working with patients dealing with trauma, and who are under serious emotional strain.

Deb is often praised for how well she handles that aspect of patient interaction, always striking the right note between essential care and compassion. And she’s honored that patients understand this.

“It means that the patients recognize the compassion, dedication and determination I have to ensure their safety on their journey to recovery,” she added, “and that the patients appreciate the care they receive and go the extra to send their appreciation.”

‘The Team I Work with Are the Absolute Best!’

Never one to take all the credit, Deb is also quick to praise the other nurses and clinicians on her care team: “The team I work with are the absolute best,” she told us.

“The unit I'm on is the hardest I've ever been on,” she continued. “The patients are going through unexpected trauma and can be difficult. But if my care helps them through the day with a bit more comfort and less stress, then I call that a good day!"

And meeting the high standards set by her own team is one of the things that motivates her to deliver exceptional care, day in and day out, as well as making sure her patients are cared for to the best of her ability.

“My goal is to be whatever my team needs and what my patients may need in those moments of need,” she said.

Words of Wisdom for New Nurses from a DAISY Award Winner

When asked what guidance she would offer those just entering the field of nursing, Deb offered some specific words of advice.

“My personal thoughts are that all new nurses should have at least one year of medical/surgical experience, regardless of where they would like to go," she said.

"It's the foundation of nursing,” she added. “It would expose them to a variety of patients. Those experiences build into every patient they care for and provides a strong experience for every other service that is available.”

Created to honor and celebrate nurses of all types, “wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers," the DAISY Award is one of nursing's highest honors. Learn more here, or search open nursing jobs with HealthTrust, the nation's leading nurse staffing company!
