August 14 – 18 is National Locum Tenens Week, a time to celebrate the contributions of physicians who provide temporary relief for healthcare facilities nationwide.
The Healthcare Financial Management Association found that nearly 94 percent of healthcare facility managers report using locum tenens physicians in their facilities. The need for locum tenens physicians could be caused by anything from a doctor shortage in a rural area, to needing a specialty physician at an urban hospital. Many doctors choose to become locum tenens for the travel opportunities, extra income, and to experience new clinical environments, as locum tenens contracts are typically short term.
We would like to thank all of our locum tenens professionals for their commitment to enhancing healthcare in the communities they serve.
