Exceptional Helpfulness and Attention to Detail
A nurse for 16 years and a member of the HealthTrust team for more than six, Jennifer works at HCA Florida Largo Hospital, where she’s known for her attention to detail and for delivering exceptional care.
"It is a huge honor to be recognized for this award," she told us. "It solidifies that this is what I am meant to do in life."
A favorite of patients and families, Jennifer often wins praise for the attention and support she provides. She's also known for going above and beyond to help patients understand their care plan and what to expect, and for offering families reassurance that their loved ones are in the best of hands — after all, it's the patients and families who nominate nurses for the DAISY Award.
And winning that award is confirmation that "the things I do aren’t going unnoticed and are truly making a difference in my patients' and families' lives," she explained.
Jennifer's dedication to others shines through not only in her work but also in the attitude she brings to the job each and every day.
"What motivates me most is knowing that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact on someone’s life," she said.
'Treat Every Patient as if They Were Family'
In addition to the life-changing care she provides to patients and families, Jennifer is also known for the support and camaraderie she offers her co-workers, describing the acuity in the CTICU department she works in as "unlike anything I’ve ever worked in before," she's quick to praise her team for helping her rise to the challenge.
"The healthcare team I work with makes even a bad day, great," she told us. "We work as a team to provide exceptional care in hopes that these patients will recover and have a second chance at life, while also helping patients and families find their calm in an otherwise chaotic and frightening time in their life."
And for those taking their first steps on the path to a nursing career, she offers some words of advice.
"Treat every patient as if they were your family and be the nurse you would want to have taking care of you," she said.
"You play a vital role in these patients' and families' lives. What may feel insignificant to you, is something these people will remember forever. You are part of their life journey, make it count," she added.
"Not every day is going to be a great day, but always strive to be the best you can be. Make yourself proud."
And with those words, Jennifer also shows why the entire HealthTrust team is so proud of her, and honored to have her on the team — including the leaders of that team, CNO Shaun McCamant, Account Manager Joe Decostanza, and Division Vice President Andie Bermudez.
