The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Presented by the DAISY Foundation, the DAISY Award celebrates and rewards nurses for the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care that they demonstrate daily.

Currently, the DAISY Foundation is running a public campaign where people are encouraged to share their appreciation for the diligent work of extraordinary nurses. Through your nominations for the DAISY Award, nurses who have made an exceptional impact in your life and in the lives of your families and friends can have the potential opportunity to be recognized and acknowledged. 

The campaign, which kicked off with virtual signs in Manhattan's Times Square, will continue to be shared throughout the country. The DAISY Foundation's ultimate goal is to show the public's gratitude for the diligent work of nurses and to help reduce the burnout that many nurses continue to feel, especially during the fight against COVID-19.

We are standing alongside the DAISY Foundation and are asking for our community to make nominations, sharing how a nurse has made a meaningful impact on a patient or on a patient’s family. DAISY Award honorees receive a certificate of recognition, a DAISY Award pin, and a Healer’s Touch stone sculpture.

Congratulations to Erik Lien, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Erik is a HealthTrust nurse who works in the MICU at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. 

Erik was nominated by the facility's Patient Care Technician, Denise Cocking, for the kindness and compassion that he continuously shows to the patients that he serves while working at the hospital. You can read the nomination in full below: 

Congratulations to the Menorah Health 3 North and Med/Oncology teams on earning HealthTrust's first DAISY TEAM Award! Menorah Medical Center is located in Overland Park, just outside of Kansas City. 

The Menorah Health teams were nominated for the DAISY Award for kind, compassionate and coordinated care they delivered to a cancer patient and her son, who happens to be a business partner of HealthTrust's StaRN Nurse Training Program.  

The nursing teams consist of:

Congratulations to Bridget Coane, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Bridget is a HealthTrust nurse who works in the ICU at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. 

Bridget was nominated by the facility's Clinical Nurse Manager, Joni Schmidt, for her compassion and positive attitude that she shows to everyone she encounters while working at the hospital. You can read her nomination in full below: 

Congratulations to Janine Seftel, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Janine is the Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Janine is a former HealthTrust Workforce Solutions (HWS) nurse who currently works for HCA Healthcare, of which HWS is a fully-owned subsidiary. She was nominated for the DAISY Award by HWS Division Vice President Randall Garcia for going above and beyond to mentor a per diem nurse who had the desire to work in the Emergency Department but did not yet have the experience: 

Congratulations to Megan Dampf, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Megan is a HealthTrust nurse who works at Centerpoint Medical Center just outside of Kansas City, Missouri.

Congratulations to Heather Whitley, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Heather is a HealthTrust nurse who works at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

Heather was nominated for the DAISY Award by the hospital's Float Pool Supervisor for her passion and dedication to excellence in both patient care and nursing expertise. Her nomination can be read in full below:
