The Medical Center of Aurora, the first community hospital in the Denver Metro area to receive two-time Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), is an acute care hospital with specialization in cardiovascular services, neurosciences, surgery, orthopedics and women’s services. The Main Campus facility is a Level II Trauma Center with Primary Stroke Certification and Chest Pain Center accreditation, serving the eastern metro area and I-70 corridor.

Director of Emergency Services RN

  1. 1. Defines standards of emergency department care and develops processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance. 
    Develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing emergency services program which assures quality patient care consistent with the Hospital mission. 
    3. Monitors compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety. 
    4. Oversees a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
  2. Oversees patient satisfaction in the Emergency Department. 
    6. Accurately identifies real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication. 
    7. Fosters a service which is consistent with the patient care beliefs and Shared Management philosophy of the Department. 
    8. Actively participates in service, departmental and hospital wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents. 
    9. Seeks new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient services. 
    10. Coaches immediate subordinates providing feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitates the development of their problem solving and decision making skills; and documents their job performance annually. 
    11. Follows progressive disciplinary action process (or oversees subordinates in doing so) in order to maintain productivity and/or performance standards. 
    12. Monitors budget expenditures as reflected in accurate, objective variance analysis. 
    13. Develops, prioritizes and defends a capital equipment budget in collaboration with the service's medical chairman and nurse managers. 
    14. Is responsible for department’s operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
    15. Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive employee relations. 
    16. Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources. 
    17. Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff. 
    18. Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission. 
    19. Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards. 
    20. Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens. 
    21. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. 
    22. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmental to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BS in Nursing preferred 
• MS desired (in administrative services preferably) 
• Five years of Emergency Room experience with progressive management responsibility is desired 
• Five years in an administrative management role desired 
Required Licenses/Certifications • Current registration as an RN in state (or eligibility to do so) 
• ACLS, PALS, BLS 

Compensation commensurate on experience, range between $44-$76/hr.
