The Emergency Department is a 47-bed Level IV Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center and JCAHO certified Stroke Center. This fun, fast-paced energetic team provides medical and trauma services to approximately 55,000 patients annually. The patients are primarily adult with 25% being pediatric. Nurses provide the primary patient care with assistance from Emergency Room Techs.
Position Description:
The Emergency Department is the Adult Sexual Assault site for the City of Austin and environs, as well having a Hyperbaric Unit, CT and Ultrasound in Dept. Department has a strong emphasis on stroke and head injuries and also cardiac patients. Nurse to Patient ratio: 1:2 for critical care patients and 1:5 for standard ED patients.
Education/Experience:
Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing. At least 2 years of recent experience as an RN in an Emergency Room.
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.
License/Certification:
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Compensation commensurate with experience with salary range between $24.91-$37.81/hr. with a sign on bonus+ relocation assistance + area differential
*Shift 2 is $1.90, Shift 3 is $3, and Shift 3/blended is $2.65. Weekends are $2, on call is $2, charge is $1. (Shift 2/shift 3) shift differential on top of the weekend shift differential if they work nights. Therefore, at HHA, a nurse would get the following shift differentials:
1) Hired for days 6am-6pm
- If work weekends then payment is as follows:
- 7a-7p: hourly rate + $2.00 weekend differential. Please note that although our shifts at HHA start at 6am, the differential doesn’t start paying until 7a, which is the observed SDH shift start.
2) Hired for nights 6p-6a
- 7p-7a: hourly rate + $2.00 weekend differential + $2.65 blended shift diff. Therefore, total shift differential for the weekend night staff is $4.65/hr. As above, although our shift starts at 6p, the differential starts paying at 7pm*
