Full-Time Nights (Rotating Weekends)
IRL is a full service provider for clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services, providing hospitals, physicians, and clients with timely diagnostic information for patient care. Our infrastructure includes a fully automated esoteric core laboratory in Fort Lauderdale, a histology and microbiology operation in Largo, Florida, and a network of hospital based rapid-response laboratories throughout Florida.
Summary
The Medical Technologist performs stat and routine microbiology and/or serology testing under the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager or director.
Job Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:
- Performs duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Performs stat procedures within established turnaround time targets.
- Applies theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine using independent judgment to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Performs non-technical duties including, but not limited to specimen receipt, processing, storage, retrieval and submission for samples for referral testing as required.
- Takes pertinent corrective action when the patient, control, standard, calibration and/or proficiency results are not within appropriate guidelines.
- Supports the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
Qualifications
- Nationally recognized certification as a medical technologist or equivalent
- Must be licensed as a Technologist in Microbiology and Serology in the state of FL
- Associate's degree in Science field required
- Post Graduate Degree in Medical Technology strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 year of experience as a Medical Technologist in a high volume microbiology setting is preferred
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
- Strong team work and collaboration abilities
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion. Occasional stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, overhead lifting
- 1 year experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory required
- Medical Technicians not accepted for these positions
- Medical Technologist Generalist must have specialty listed on license
Compensation commensurate with experience with salary range $23.51/hr. - $26.86+/hr. $2500 sign on bonus with 2 yr. commitment; relocation assistance available (case-by-case).
