IRL is a full service provider for clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services, providing hospitals, physicians, and clients with timely diagnostic information for patient care. Our infrastructure includes a fully automated esoteric core laboratory in Fort Lauderdale, a histology and microbiology operation in Largo, Florida, and a network of hospital based rapid-response laboratories throughout Florida.
Summary
The Histology Technologist must be knowledgeable of all aspects of Histology services including but not limited to experience with special stains, microtomy, embedding, frozen sections, immunoperoxidase staining. Orders are reviewed for necessary information and compared with specimen labels. Any discrepancies are noted and corrected by notifying sender. Specimens are processed according to procedure and analyzed as soon as possible upon receipt in the laboratory. Evaluates normal and abnormal tissue types. Properly labels, cuts and embeds tissue for microscopic evaluation. Assists with special staining procedures. Organizes work so slides are prepared, stained and ready for the Pathologist in the morning. Recognizes problems in variation of slide staining and investigates before reporting.
Qualifications
- Associates’ degree required, Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
- Florida State licensure as a Histotechnologist is required
- National certification preferred HT (ASCP certified), HTL (ASCP certified)
- 3 years’ experience preferred
- Ability to work with minimal degree of supervision
Compensation commensurate with experience with salary range starts at $23.51/hr to $26-28/hr. No sign-on except military and Relocation: case-by-case.
