Summary
Unit Information: Labor and Delivery (L&D):
- It has 26 beds and a 6 bed labor lounge
- The unit has approximately 4,000 deliveries per year
- They have approximately 700 low intervention births per year.
- We offer Novii electrohysterography monitoring
The Director of L&D provides leadership to assigned nursing unit(s) with responsibility for planning, directing and evaluating the patient care and services provided. The tasks and responsibilities include:
- Manages personnel in the accomplishment of designated goals and the provision of nursing care and services.
- Implements evidence based practice changes as directed by senior leadership.
- Upholds the vision and values of woman-centered care, and respectful maternity care (RMC).
- Manages the provision of adequate and competent staffing.
- Evaluates effectiveness of care in producing desired patient outcomes.
- Addresses any issues that affect the desired patient outcomes.
- Ensures that age and culturally appropriate care is given.
- Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.
- Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget.
- Implements cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions.
- Assists staff in providing patient care and services as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a registered nurse.
- Previous experience as a Nurse Manager or Director
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in L&D
Preferred
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, strong communication skills and leadership abilities
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
EDUCATION
Required
- Graduate from a Bachelor’s in Nursing program
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Management preferred
Compensation commensurate with experience with base salary range between $100K - $120K plus up to 15% of the base salary as a bonus based off of Hospital Goals.
