Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) Med/Surg – Del Sol Medical Center

The RN staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.  In collaboration with the patient, the patient's family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and coordinates treatment plans.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process.
  2. Monitor and recognize changes in the patient's behavioral and physiological status; takes appropriate action based on assessment.
  3. Utilizes professional skills and judgment in delivering and/or delegating care for a group of patients.
  4. Provides leadership and direction to all disciplines assigned to the health care team.
  5. Job specific competencies
  6. Ability to move in excess of 100 pounds, with staff assistance

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

  1.  RN licensed in state of Texas/Compact state
  2. BCLS

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION: 

  1. Completion of RN/LVN program leading to licensure
  2. Read and write basic English with the basic skills necessary to understand and transfer

physician's orders

  1. Associate's Degree/College Diploma

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  1. None

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  1. Preferred experience as RN 1-2 years Med-Surg
  2. Specialty certification/training as appropriate.
  3. Radiation certification (unit course completed within 1 yr of hire date)
  4. Read and write Basic English with the basic skills necessary to understand and transfer physician's orders.
  5. Ability to move an excess of 100 pounds, with assistance from other staff.
  6. Effective communication skills, both orally and written.
  7. Computer skills
  8. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
  9. Strong problem solving skills.

 

Compensation commensurate with experience with a base pay rate of $23.87/hr. Pay scale is set up as a Tier and lists specific pay based on RN experience. A new Graduate, though an RN with less than 2 yrs experience would come in at $23.87/hr.
