Overview
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit nurses possess a high level of education and experience that allow them to collaborate, treat, and manage conditions with a trusted Cardiothoracic team. They provide care to patients with coronary heart disease, provide post-operative care to those recovering from bypass surgery, thoracic and/or vascular surgeries. They work to promote optimal cardiovascular health among clients through monitoring, maintenance and preventative measures.
Services Provided
Cardiac nurses are qualified to provide cardiac care to patients across the lifespan which includes patients with advanced stage heart disease. They also provide a wide range of services, which may include:
- Managing hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias and other heart conditions
- Evaluating and monitoring heart devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators, Impella and coming soon – ECMO
- Providing physical exams so as to diagnose chronic and acute cardiac diseases.
- Interpreting laboratory results or cardiac tests
- Administering and managing cardiac medications and other therapies
- Educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention
Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience
- Current/Valid Florida RN License
- BLS
- ACLS
- Completion of critical care course or equivalent prior to completion of orientation period. Completion of basic dysrhythmia exam within 3 months.
Sign on bonus up to $10K. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates. Compensation commensurate with experience with salary range between $23.46 -$35.19/hr. plus clinical ladder pay increases and night differential.
