Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute is a 380-bed acute-care hospital offering a full range of services. Lawnwood is home to the most experienced Heart Institute on the Treasure Coast and offers diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery. Other hospital services include a 24/7 emergency departmentpediatric emergency department, labor/delivery and birthing, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, diagnostic services, and a full range of inpatient and outpatient general surgical services. Lawnwood provides the area's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care UnitLevel II Trauma Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Compressive Stroke Center.

Lawnwood is accredited by The Joint Commission and designated at a Top Performer, a Certified Primary Stroke Center and has the only CARF Accreditation on the Treasure Coast.

Overview

Reporting to the CEO, the Trauma Program Director oversees and coordinates all aspects of the Level II trauma program in a busy progressive hospital setting. Program development, at the hospital, local level and within state/national systems is a key element to the success of this role.   

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate and provide direction for a multidisciplinary trauma service with primary focus on developing/implementing and monitoring systems to enhance care of the trauma patient
  • Serve as a resource for inter-intra disciplinary team members and patient families that participate in the care of trauma patients
  • Work in close collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director to:
    • Promote the goals of the Trauma Program
    • Qualify all care and system issues regarding the program development
    • Optimize patient care across the age and injury spectrum
  • Oversee and direct all trauma related activities, and initiate changes internally and externally that will promote optimal trauma care
  • Perform all functions necessary to act as an agent to the Trauma Medical Director and Administration, to ensure compliance with all hospital, local, state and American College of Surgeons requirements
  • This position maintains responsibility/accountability for 24-hour day management

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse licensed issued by the State of Florida
  • Bachelor Degree required – Master’s preferred
  • Maintain a minimum of 10 CEU's in Trauma Nursing annually
  • BLS; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and or Advanced Trauma Course for Nurses (ATCN) certifications
  • Certified Emergency Room nursing (CEN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate is preferred
  • Three years of professional nursing experience in an inpatient critical care or emergency nursing area or trauma intensive care unit
  • Understanding of the Florida Standards for Trauma Standards and the American College of Surgeons Optimal Resources for Care of the Injured patient
  • Background in trauma system management essential - required
  • Experience in trauma registry management

Compensation commensurate with experience with Base Salary ranging from $96K - $115K plus up to 10% bonus and potential relocation assistance available.
