U.S. job growth picked up the pace in February, adding 678,000 new jobs and edging the unemployment rate down to a two-year low of 3.8%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics February 2022 Hiring Situation Report.
Employment in healthcare rose by 63,500 in February with gains occurring primarily in in ambulatory healthcare settings (+53,600). Nursing homes and residential care facilities added 7,200 jobs and hospital employment grew by 2,700. A deficit of 306,000 jobs remain in healthcare since February 2020.
