Nursing Colleagues,
This week, we celebrate National Nurses Week, shining a spotlight on the millions of men and women who care for others when they are at their most vulnerable. When illness or injury interrupts daily life, there is no one more important to a person in pain than a caring nurse. Not everyone can do this job, and we know that being a nurse is far more than a career choice; it is a calling—one that reflects a generosity of spirit that is unique to caregivers.
Parallon is proud to celebrate the work you do every day to deliver the highest level of quality care to patients. You are the heart of our organization, and we truly appreciate the dedication you bring to your profession, your colleagues and those you serve. In doing so, we urge you to pay heed to the ANA's National Nurses Week theme, "Culture of Safety: It starts with YOU."
Ironically, a place of healing can be a source of hurt for those who work there. On average, U.S. hospitals experience almost twice the number of work-related injuries as any other workplace, including construction and manufacturing sites—traditionally thought to be far less safe. Hospitals have serious hazards—lifting and moving patients, needle sticks, slips, trips and falls, and the potential for agitated or combative patients or visitors. Added to that is a dynamic, unpredictable environment, where caregivers have been known to put their own safety and health at risk to help a patient.
Please be ever vigilant about the potential hazards around you. Never lose sight of your own well-being as you care for others.
Know that this week and every week, it truly is my honor to work with each of you. Thank you for being a part of our team. You make us a better Parallon Workforce Solutions!
