Recognizing Recruitment's Employee of the Month and Most Positive Recruitment "Rate-Your-Experience" Submissions Winners (January - March)

Posted by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions on Apr 19, 2021 12:00:02 PM

We are thankful for the dedication and commitment of our exceptional employees! Through every employee's hard work and perseverance, we know that a positive impact is being made in the lives of clinicians and patients around the country. For the first quarter of 2021, we have highlighted below a few employees who went above and beyond in their service to colleagues and clinicians.

January Employee of the Month: Christine Ortino, Perm Account Manager

Christine joined HealthTrust in the fall of 2018. In her role as an account manager, it is her job to place nurses at our HCA Healthcare facilities in the Far West, MidAmerica, Continental, and Mountain Divisions. These nurses fill core vacancies that are crucial to patient care. After a full day of working as an account manager, Christine enjoys completing home improvement projects, doing her nails, and playing football.

“It's always nice to be recognized by your peers acknowledging your accomplishments towards making a difference," says Christine.

February Employee of the Month: Tiara Hanna, Dialysis Recruiter

Tiara started her journey here at HealthTrust in 2020. Her job is to source and screen qualified dialysis nurses for our HCA Healthcare facilities. Tiara builds exceptional relationships with her nurses and has been recognized for providing a great hiring experience. Her favorite aspect about the role is not only being able to find experienced nurses who can take care of patients, but also hearing about their healthcare journey. Aside from building incredible relationships with nurses, Tiara loves to spend time with family, cook, and complete fitness challenges.

March Employee of the Month: Natasha Macias, Perm Account Manager

Natasha has been a part of the HealthTrust team since the summer of 2015. Within her role, Natasha is tasked with building valuable client relationships and efficiently managing various vendor partners. Also, like Christine, Natasha continues to place nurses throughout HCA Healthcare facilities. Ultimately, Natasha is thankful for the individuals that she works with both internally and externally. When Natasha is not working, Natasha finds joy in going to the gym, spending time with friends, and engaging in outdoor activities.

Most Positive Recruitment "Rate-Your-Experience" Submissions Winner for January: Roslyn Gibbs, Associate Recruiter

Roslyn has been a part of the HealthTrust team since April of 2017. Within her role, Roslyn is tasked with sourcing and screening qualified nurses. If a nurse seems as if they are a strong fit, she forwards the qualified candidates to the Regional Recruiter for the Far West Division. After working with exceptional candidates, Roslyn enjoys baking and online shopping.

"The best part of my job is connecting with interesting candidates, talking about their career goals, and suggesting how HealthTrust could be a positive part of their career journey," says Roslyn. "I am very honored to be recognized. It's nice to be recognized for my hard work."

Most Positive Recruitment "Rate-Your-Experience" Submissions Winner for February: Sara Fouad, Associate Recruiter

Sara has been a part of making a valuable difference on the HealthTrust team since 2019. Similar to Roslyn, Sara is tasked with sourcing and screening qualified nurses. If a nurse seems as if they are a strong fit, she forwards the qualified candidates to the appropriate recruiter. After finishing a full day of work, you can find Sara shopping or engaging in outdoor activities.

"The best part of my job is the daily conversations I have with nurses and the relationships that I get to build with my nurses," says Sara. "For me, hearing each nurse's story and what they go through on a daily basis has definitely allowed me to have a different view and appreciation for all healthcare workers."

Most Positive Recruitment "Rate-Your-Experience" Submissions Winner for March: Ryan Savage, Associate Recruiter

Ryan has been a part of the HealthTrust team for almost three months. Within Ryan's role, Ryan sources and screens qualified candidates for per diem or local contract roles for registered nurses and allied health professionals. Ryan, similar to Roslyn and Sara, then shares information about the qualified candidates with the appropriate recruiters. When Ryan is not searching for qualified healthcare candidates, you can find Ryan cooking or volunteering for non-profit organizations.

"The best part of my job is that I care for and nurture careers of nurses and other health professionals whom have cared for us so much, especially during the pandemic," says Ryan. "It brings me joy to know that this has come full circle."

Are You Feeling Burned Out? Per Diem Nursing Can Help

Posted by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions on Apr 15, 2021 4:45:37 PM

Nurses, especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, have shown their dedication to patient care by selflessly taking care of patients. However, many nurses have lacked in taking care of themselves. According to a survey that was released by the American Association of International Healthcare Recruitment, 75% of nurses shared that they faced extreme anxiety or stress over the past year, while 36% of nurses mentioned that they are thinking about quitting altogether.

As burnout continues to be felt by many nurses throughout the profession, nurses may be relieved to hear of an option that can help reduce the effects of the burnout that COVID-19 has created: per diem nursing opportunities

How could a per diem nursing opportunity help with relieving burnout? Find out our top three reasons below!

Certified Nurses Day 2021: Celebrating and Supporting Lifelong Learners

Posted by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions on Apr 7, 2021 2:00:51 PM

Certified Nurses Day occurs every March 19, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles, RN, EdD, FAAN, a visionary nursing leader and scholar.

Kenneth Wall, a nurse at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in Texas, recently achieved his Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification. (left to right) Donna Baptiste, Dr. Karanja, Kenneth Wall, Jennifer Gonzales, Laurie Roth, Yvette Greer.

Florence Nightingale once said, “Let us consider that we are never done as nurses…we must be learning all of our lives.” Like Florence, HCA Healthcare and HealthTrust Workforce Solutions recognize the unique and intrinsic worth of each individual by supporting lifelong learners. On National Certified Nurses Day, we celebrate HCA Healthcare nursing colleagues who have demonstrated advanced skill, knowledge and practice by earning a professional certification in complex nursing care specialties.

“The value of a specialty nursing certification is becoming more important as healthcare becomes increasingly complex and challenging,” said Steve Tarkington, vice president, HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement.

As a part of our organization’s robust clinical education offerings and support, HCA Healthcare provides qualifying nurses who wish to pursue a specialty certification the opportunity to take advantage of discounted rates, a voucher program and reimbursement upon successfully completing the certification exam.

In 2020, more than 3,753 HCA Healthcare-affiliated registered nurses expanded their professional expertise and advanced their professional skills through the voucher program to earn certification in specialty areas, including:

  • Emergency Services (BCEN)
  • Critical Care (AACN)
  • Surgical Services (CCI)
  • Medical-Surgical (ANCC)
  • Medical-Surgical (ONCB)

According to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the benefits of obtaining a nursing certification include:

  • demonstration that the nurse cares enough to be tested against rigorous standards, confirming their knowledge and skills in a specialty area;
  • creating an environment of professionalism, contributing to staff retention and patient safety;
  • serving as a role model for professional development, lifelong learning and dedication to excellence in patient care, and
  • a sense of pride, fulfillment and empowerment, as well as career advancement. (Research shows nurse leaders prefer hiring a nurse who is certified.)

Thank you to certified nurses across HCA Healthcare and HealthTrust Workforce Solutions for your extraordinary contributions to patient care and your commitment to advancing the nursing practice. Meet a few lifelong learners below…

Cori Morrison, oncology certified nurse at
HCA Healthcare’s Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada

“To effectively care for patients, I want to be as educated as possible in all of aspects of nursing and treatment,” said Cori Morrison, an oncology certified nurse at HCA Healthcare’s Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. “Being certified helps me achieve this and stay in-tune with the ever changing facets of the oncology world.”

Callie Ballenger MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, NPD-BC, division nurse residency coordinator,
HCA Healthcare’s MidAmerica Division

Callie Ballenger, division nurse residency coordinator for HCA Healthcare’s MidAmerica Division, has a background as a Nurse Practitioner and recently achieved her Nursing Professional Development Certification. “I believe in the importance of lifelong learning and always being the best that I can be. I learn a lot from studying for certification exams. I also think it shows the patients that you are caring for and people that you work with that you are dedicated to the profession,” said Callie.

Jenny Weir, double-certified clinical nurse coordinator at
HCA Healthcare’s Los Robles Health System in Thousand Oaks, California

“I love to learn, and our field is ever changing,” says double-certified clinical nurse coordinator Jenny Weir of HCA Healthcare’s Los Robles Health System in Thousand Oaks, California. “I’ve been a labor and delivery nurse for more than 30 years and got certified shortly after in inpatient obstetrics. About two years ago, I achieved certification in electronic fetal monitoring. I wanted to show my peers, doctors and patients my specialized experience and that I meet a national standard of excellence. You can always sharpen your skills and be a resource to others.”

Holly Toscano, certified in Maternal Newborn Nursing, serves HCA Healthcare patients at
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada

“With evidence-based practice, nursing is constantly evolving to create better patient outcomes,” said HCA Healthcare colleague Holly Toscano, who is certified in Maternal Newborn Nursing. “As a charge nurse, my certification helps me stay current so I can be a better mentor and resource for our care team and our patients.”
