An L&D RN Who Always Goes the 'Extra Mile'
A nurse for almost 9 years and a member of the HealthTrust team for almost 3, Kayla currently works as a labor and delivery RN in our Conroe, TX division.
And in that role, Kayla is often described as kind and compassionate, always going the extra mile to make patients feel comfortable and families feel included. She's also known for taking the time to get to know families and patients alike.
Kayla is also frequently praised for soothing the nerves of mothers-to-be and helping talk them through delicate or stressful procedures with kindness, compassion, and empathy. On top of that, she's also quick to take immediate action during difficult times, especially the most critical parts of the labor and delivery process
And patients have responded to those efforts by nominating her for one of nursing's most prestigious awards, making Kayla the latest in a long list of HealthTrust RNs to be honored by the DAISY Foundation.
'A Great Reminder that What We Do Truly Matters'
“The DAISY Award means so much to me because it reminds me that the little things I do every day can have a big impact,” Kayla told us about winning the award.
“It encourages me to keep leading with compassion, even on the tough days, and reminds me that the care I give truly touches lives," she added.
“Being a DAISY Award winner is a great reminder that what we do truly matters. We may only care for our patients for a day or two, but the impact we have stays with them. It puts things into perspective and motivates me to keep giving my best every day!”
As honored as Kayla was to receive the DAISY Award, she's also someone who brings plenty of motivation to work every day on her own.
“I love seeing the joy and relief on families’ faces when a baby arrives and knowing I played a role in making that experience as positive as possible!”
'Knowing We’ve Made a Difference, and Supporting Each Other as a Team — That Makes it All Worth It'
Kayla also had some words of wisdom for nurses about to enter the field, as well as students who are considering doing so.
“This work can be exhausting and challenging, but it’s moments like these — seeing a family welcome a new life, knowing we’ve made a difference, and supporting each other as a team — that makes it all worth it,” she said.
“Those moments remind me why I chose this career and why I keep showing up every day!”
