Economic Activity Rebounds in October, Jobless Rate Dips

The latest Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Report indicates that economic activity has rebounded after experiencing hurricane-related disruptions the prior month, with 261,000 new jobs added in October. 

The healthcare segment of the economy grew by 21,500 jobs, fueled largely by growth within ambulatory care (16,100). Hospital payrolls added 2,800 jobs. The overall unemployment rate dipped slightly to 4.1%, while the broader U.S. jobless rate fell to 7.9%, the first time it’s been below 8% since 2006.
