Emergency nurses need to be ready for anything. These nurses are some of the first people to see patients who suffer critical injuries or experience health emergencies. Oftentimes, these patients have not yet received a diagnosis, so emergency nurses must be quick on their feet and skilled in decision making when every second counts.
Olivet Nazarene University shared an infographic about the life of an emergency room nurse. The graphic also includes a diary of an ER nurse’s day from the time she wakes up through the end of her 12-hour shift. As the graphic states, there is no typical day for an emergency nurse.
However, emergency nurses are not limited to working in hospital emergency rooms. As EmergencyNurse.org points out, emergency nurses can also work in urgent care facilities, clinics, prisons, poison control centers, triage centers, and more.
For current or prospective emergency nurses, the Emergency Nurses Association will be hosting its annual conference September 14 – 17 in Los Angeles. Parallon Workforce Solution will be in attendance at Booth #2001.
