Job Creation Rebounds in April; Economy Poised for Strong Spring

April 2017 Healthcare Economic Snapshot.jpg

The pace of hiring picked up again in April after an initially slow start earlier this spring. Unemployment dipped to 4.4%, the lowest level in almost a decade. If the rate drops again it will match a historic 16-year-low.

Healthcare added 19,500 jobs in April. Hiring within ambulatory care contributed largely to the growth seen in the healthcare sector, accounting for nearly three-quarters of all job creation. Jobs within the acute care setting grew by about 4,000.
