We kicked off our annual campaign in support of the United Way of Broward County! Representatives from the United Way stopped by our South Florida corporate headquarters to share how every dollar donated impacts our local community. 

In honor of the 3.1 million women in the U.S. who are living with or have a history of breast cancer, HealthTrust team members showed their support by wearing pink, hosting bake sales, sharing statistics and resources, wearing ribbons, and more throughout the month of October. We would like to thank all of our team members who took part in this worthy cause.

Congratulations to our Houston office for winning the Summer Sizzle recruitment contest! The Houston team won the contest by putting the most new HWS nurses to work this summer. When the temperatures rose in Texas, HWS nurses in the Houston area also worked more on average than any other region in the country. As part of their prize, the team was treated to a summer barbecue feast.

When Hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida, HealthTrust was there to help. HealthTrust Workforce Solutions deployed more than 140 clinicians so far to seven HCA Healthcare facilities to join their disaster relief efforts. This involved not only helping facilities that were directly impacted in the Florida panhandle, but also facilities in central Florida that received patients who were evacuated from other hospitals. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to help the people affected by this devastating storm.

We would like to congratulate our Shared Services Recruitment team on already exceeding their year-end goal! Shared Services Recruitment is responsible for sourcing and submitting candidates to our Parallon affiliate to fill non-clinical positions within HCA Healthcare facilities or other Parallon locations. The Shared Services Department is currently made up of three recruiters: Regional Recruiter Daylena Barrios, Associate Recruiter Stephanie Celis, and Associate Recruiter Richard Polanco.

While the Hurricane Florence likely impacted the overall pace of job creation in September with the economy adding 134,000 new jobs, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% last month. This is the lowest rate since 1969 and is indicative of near-full economic employment.

HCA Healthcare, the parent company of HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, generously donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross to help the people affected by Hurricane Florence. As a part of the HCA family, we are proud to share in their mission and commitment to the care and improvement of human life.
