Giving Support after Disaster

Supporting hospital staff after a disaster

Parallon Workforce Solutions sent nearly two dozen nurses to assist in Louisiana immediately following the state’s historic flooding. Many of the nurses stayed for more than a week to help in areas that received the most damage. Although a healthcare facility’s patients are always at the top of a nurse’s priority list, the medical staff also needs to be supported after disaster strikes.

FierceHealthcare posted the 4 Ways Hospitals can Support Staff after a Disaster. Two of the most important needs addressed in the article are to have appropriate shelter and transportation.

If streets are flooded or overflowing with debris, the staff will need to seek shelter close to or inside the hospital. This will guarantee that the staff will be able to safely report for their shifts, allowing the patients inside the hospital to receive the best quality of care.
