# With 300K Jobs Added in 2017, Healthcare Remains a Job Creation Leader

In the final month of 2017, U.S. economic job growth tempered a bit, adding 148,000 jobs in December with the unemployment rate remaining steady at 4.1%. In 2018, U.S. economic expansion is projected to be the second longest in history.
The healthcare sector accounted for nearly a quarter of all job creation last month, contributing 31,400 jobs to the overall employment picture. In total, healthcare added about 300,000 jobs over the course of 2017.
