The PWS team in Houston came together on May 26th in celebration of Red Nose Day, a campaign dedicated to helping children and having fun. Proceeds benefit children and young people in the US and some of the poorest communities in the world. 

This weekend marks a holiday that has been celebrated for nearly 150 years. With so much history behind it, it’s amazing that for some, it holds no more significance than a day off and great discounts. When Memorial Day was first celebrated, it was to commemorate the fallen from the Civil War. That number reached nearly half a million and represented 17% of those who served. Today, there are fewer men and women in uniform, both active and reserve. However, imagine living in a time where every family likely knew someone who either served, or worse, died in service to their country. That is the reason behind Memorial Day… to honor the patriots who gave their lives in the name of freedom. Whether we support a conflict raging today or in the history books, we should never forget those who have stood—and fallen—to protect our nation.

The Denver-based Parallon Workforce Solutions team has been a supporter of Valverde Elementary School for the past year.  The team has participated in a number of fundraising activitites to collect school supplies and books. They have also donated their time to speak to the students about bullying and helped the administration with the school registration process. Most recently the team fundraised to donate 6 new tablets to students, which will help the students better prepare for upcoming state testing assessments.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners is projected to grow 31 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Yesterday the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a report recommending that a nurse be employed at every school to help with the growing array of student health issues.

HealthTrust℠ was selected for the seventh time as a recipient of a “Champion for Change” award from Practice Greenhealth. The recognition is one of the national membership organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given annually to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the healthcare sector.
