HealthTrust Hero: Matthew Rickmon
Matthew Rickmon, RN is our next clinical HealthTrust Hero! Matthew began his career with HealthTrust in the StaRN program as a learner and now works for HCA’s LewisGale Regional Health System in Virginia. Most recently, he earned the distinction of “Rookie RN of the Year” in HCA’s Southwest Virginia market.
“The skills practiced in StaRN were quite beneficial, many of which were hands-on experiences that were not encountered too often in school/clinicals,” Matthew says. “I believe StaRN is a major contributor to the rate that I have been able to pick up on skills, knowledge, and overall confidence in the real world of nursing.”

Inside Our Associate Recruiter Training Program
At HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, one of our core values is innovation, which at times means looking outside of workforce management veterans for fresh perspectives on how to guide our clinicians to successful careers.
Many of our new Associate Recruiters come to us from outside of the healthcare staffing industry but possess a deep passion for improving the lives of others. To give each of these new recruits a level starting ground, we’ve developed and implemented a robust six-week Associate Recruiter training program to lay the foundation for their own future success. While the training is intensive, it is not meant to be intimidating.

Getting Strategic about Contingent Workforce Management
The single overriding mission of every health care provider is to ensure the best possible patient care. Achieving this mission requires finding the right people for the right place at the right time to provide this care. Today, this can be a challenge, given the high rate of health care job growth and the scarcity of specialty skills—especially in nursing. Many chief nursing officers (CNOs) are struggling just to fill core vacancies.
To improve care quality, more and more CNOs are retaining a managed services provider (MSP) to ensure adequate labor resources. As a CNO, how do you establish a true partnership with your MSP that ensures you get highly qualified, appropriately credentialed professionals?
