In observation of Veterans Day, we honor the 22+ million men and women who have served in the United States military, especially the many among us now working as corporate and clinical employees within the HealthTrust Workforce Solutions family. In an environment where team-based patient care is the new norm, positive working relationships are more crucial to a hospital or medical group’s success than ever before.

Focusing on clear communication, sharing of patient information, care coordination, collaboration among care team members and a well-organized plan of care—both inside and outside the hospital—helps patients get better fast and stay well. To do so, the relationships between care team members must be equally as healthy. 

On Tuesday, November 6, HWS Vice President of Professional Development John Ruffini will speak on a panel called "M&A, Non-Financial Matters After the Deal" at the Staffing Industry Analyst Healthcare Staffing Summit in Denver, Colorado.

While companies merge for a variety of reasons, the amount of time invested in strategy, due diligence, financial matters and C-Suite implications often dominate the deal. This can cause employees to feel confused, distracted and even fearful of what's ahead. This panel of experts will speak from experience regarding the good, the bad, and the ugly of post-merger times. 

On Tuesday, November 6, HWS President & CEO Brendan Courtney will join a panel of fellow healthcare staffing industry executives at the Staffing Industry Analyst Healthcare Staffing Summit in Denver, Colorado to discuss “Beating the Skills Mismatch: Innovative Methods for Supplying Talent.” 

While skill shortages are nothing new in healthcare, the length of the current economic expansion, the heightened requirements demanded in job requisitions and demographic shifts have combined to create a perfect storm of recruiting difficulty. This session will examine a range of real life case studies that illustrate how some staffing firms are winning the war for talent. The panelists will discuss how they are re-inventing marketing and recruiting processes, as well as launching programs to engage students, new graduates and other pools of talent. 

HealthTrust Workforce Solutions is committed to creating an environment that promotes Workplace Wellness. Each month the HWS Employee Advisory Group hosts fitness challenges with weekly check-ins. Fitness challenges have included high planking, wall sitting and Feiffer scissoring, to name a few. The winners are determined by the best performance and greatest progress.

We kicked off our annual campaign in support of the United Way of Broward County! Representatives from the United Way stopped by our South Florida corporate headquarters to share how every dollar donated impacts our local community. 

In honor of the 3.1 million women in the U.S. who are living with or have a history of breast cancer, HealthTrust team members showed their support by wearing pink, hosting bake sales, sharing statistics and resources, wearing ribbons, and more throughout the month of October. We would like to thank all of our team members who took part in this worthy cause.

When Hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida, HealthTrust was there to help. HealthTrust Workforce Solutions deployed more than 140 clinicians so far to seven HCA Healthcare facilities to join their disaster relief efforts. This involved not only helping facilities that were directly impacted in the Florida panhandle, but also facilities in central Florida that received patients who were evacuated from other hospitals. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to help the people affected by this devastating storm.
