U.S. Economy, Job Growth Shine in October

The October 2018 Jobs Report delivered a stronger-than-expected display of economic growth, adding 250,000 new jobs last month. The healthcare sector contributed to the robust job creation, accounting for 35,600 of the jobs created and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.7%. The report also revealed that wages climbed 3.1% in the past 12 months, the fastest pace in 9 years.

Providing Relief After Hurricane Michael

When Hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida, HealthTrust was there to help. HealthTrust Workforce Solutions deployed more than 140 clinicians so far to seven HCA Healthcare facilities to join their disaster relief efforts. This involved not only helping facilities that were directly impacted in the Florida panhandle, but also facilities in central Florida that received patients who were evacuated from other hospitals. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to help the people affected by this devastating storm.

Employment Remains Steady; Unemployment Reaches 49-Year-Low

While the Hurricane Florence likely impacted the overall pace of job creation in September with the economy adding 134,000 new jobs, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% last month. This is the lowest rate since 1969 and is indicative of near-full economic employment.
