StaRN Clinical Instructor Kim Parreno, RN is our next corporate HealthTrust Hero! A registered nurse for seven years, Kim joined the StaRN program three years ago to inspire and educate new nurses in South Florida. 

StaRN, short for Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses, is a program designed to bridge the skills gap between new graduates and experienced nurses to increase the pool of qualified registered nurses. StaRN Clinical Instructors are experienced registered nurses who act as mentors, educators, and preceptors to the newly-licensed nurses who join the program as Cohorts. 

Marilyn Reed, RN is our HealthTrust Hero Clinician! A military veteran as well as a nurse, Marilyn proves that compassion does not go unnoticed.

Marilyn earned her nomination when caring for a homeless patient at JFK Medical Center - North Campus in Florida. The patient had been at the facility for several weeks and was preparing for discharge. Noticing that his clothes had seen better days, Marilyn went out on her lunch break to purchase clothes, shoes, a box of chocolates, and an encouragement card for the man using her own money.

Trust and mutual respect are key for any working relationship, especially the relationship between a job seeker and a recruiter. For registered nurse Hillary Perez, these qualities were paramount in her search for a new traveler agency. 

Hillary's relationship with HealthTrust began earlier this year, and she has already chosen to extend her current travel contract. Her decision to remain with HealthTrust was due to one very particular reason: the bond she built with her recruiter, Philip Long.

Located in the “City of Excellence,” Medical City Plano is a part of the largest, most comprehensive healthcare providers in North Texas.

This 547-bed acute-care facility has more than 1,600 employees and over 1,000 physicians on staff, representing over 70 specialties and subspecialties. Medical City Plano stands as the community’s first comprehensive medical center and is part of HCA’s Medical City Healthcare system. Many of these positions and facilities are staffed by HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, an affiliate of HCA.

As we reach the end of the academic year, we would like to thank everyone who promoted early literacy by becoming United Way ReadingPals!

Nineteen HealthTrust Workforce Solutions team members signed up to be ReadingPals, which required each member to spend one hour per week reading with a child. Many of these children were Kindergarten or first-grade students at Flamingo Elementary School.

We have seven interns starting this week, including three familiar faces who interned with us last summer. Their first few days were filled with learning about HealthTrust and performing team building exercises (pictured), and they will join their respective departments later in the week.
