The latest BLS Economic Situation report revealed that the economy created a robust and unexpected 266,000 new jobs in November, with the healthcare sector once again leading the way contributing 45,200 jobs or nearly 17% of all job growth.

The unemployment rate dipped to 3.5%, the lowest since 1969. This was the largest increase seen in the last 10 months amid the longest economic expansion in U.S. which has lasted for 11 years.

This Thanksgiving, we would like to take a moment to demonstrate our gratitude and thank each of our clinical and corporate team members for your hard work and dedication to our organization over this past year.

Congratulations to Janine Seftel, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Janine is the Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Janine is a former HealthTrust Workforce Solutions (HWS) nurse who currently works for HCA Healthcare, of which HWS is a fully-owned subsidiary. She was nominated for the DAISY Award by HWS Division Vice President Randall Garcia for going above and beyond to mentor a per diem nurse who had the desire to work in the Emergency Department but did not yet have the experience: 

HealthTrust team members in our Sunrise corporate office raised more than $2,000 to support local veterans! Our Finance Shared Services team organized a series of fundraisers to support the United Way of Broward County's MISSION UNITED, which provides support to veterans and their families as they transition into civilian life. 

Today we celebrate Veterans Day in honor of the 22+ million men and women who have served in the United States military, especially the many among us now working as corporate and clinical employees within the HealthTrust Workforce Solutions family. Thank you to all of the courageous individuals who put their lives in harm's way to protect our country and ensure the freedoms that Americans embrace each and every day.

Congratulations to Megan Dampf, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Megan is a HealthTrust nurse who works at Centerpoint Medical Center just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. 

Megan was recognized by a Centerpoint nursing leader who one evening became a patient at the facility. You can read her nomination in full below:

Congratulations to Luz Silva, RN, on earning a DAISY Award! Luz is a HealthTrust nurse who works in the NICU at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. 

Luz was recognized for the compassion she showed to a family whose joy at welcoming their newborn son would soon turn to sorrow. Her nomination can be read below:

The U.S. created 128,000 new jobs in October and summertime hiring was upwardly revised, according to the latest BLS Economic Situation.  In addition to the new gains, updated figures for August and September added 95,000 more jobs than initially reported.
